Deception In The Last Days

Matthew 24 -

Jesus mentioned deception numerous times throughout chapter 24 in the book of Matthew. He also told us how to deal with deception. Jesus said, “Take Heed” (Matthew 24:4). One definition of “Take Heed” is:

listen, hear, focus, pore, rivet, center, centre, concentrate – direct one’s attention on something…There is only one source of “truth” that ensures the deception promised in the last days can be detected and that is the Word of God (John 17:17)

What’s important to understand are the questions the disciples were asking Jesus in Matthew 24:3 - Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Jesus told his disciples the sign of his coming is “deception”.  Specifically, look at Matthew 24:24 -

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

This is a most powerful statement yet so misunderstood. It’s not the signs and wonders that are deceiving, it is the prophets with their false message proving their doctrine is true by producing signs and wonders…Jesus said, “

Matthew 7:22-23 -

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

And then will I profess unto them, “I never knew you”: depart from me, ye that work iniquity…Jesus didn’t say, I once knew you then you backslid, He said “I never knew you“.

I know it’s difficult, our beloved Apostle Paul told us concerning the last days in 2 Timothy, chapter 3 (Amplified):

BUT UNDERSTAND this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].

For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.

[They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good.

[They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God.

For [although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are strangers to the power of it [their conduct belies the genuineness of their profession]. Avoid [all] such people [turn away from them].

In order to get the full scale of what Apostle Paul was trying to tell us, we must understand a very important scripture in 2 Timothy 3, verse 8 -

Now just as “Jannes and Jambres” were hostile to and resisted Moses, so these men also are hostile to and oppose the Truth. They have depraved and distorted minds, and are reprobate and counterfeit and to be rejected as far as the faith is concerned.

Here the Apostle Paul is giving us more light on Matthew 24:24…Just as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses..When you read the account of these magicians of Pharaoh in Exodus chapters 7 & 8, you will see they performed all the “signs and wonders” that Moses performed yet they were false. Moses represented the Word of God and they resisted the true Word of God spoke through Moses…This is to repeat again in the last days. The true Word of God (now in written form) being resisted by those that claim to be fulfilling the Word of God and yet they are false.

False Christs and False Prophets will resist the Word of God and prove to many they deceive they have the Word of God and will support their false teachings with “signs and wonders”.

Apostle Paul also said in the “last days” many will depart from the faith and heep to themselves teachers and will be drawn into fables…2 Timothy 4. These are seducing spirits that are unleashing doctrines of devils (1 Timothy 4).

Brothers and Sisters, don’t see your fellowship through – Numbers, Money, Fancy Buildings, Fancy Music or Great Entertainment as the source that God is moving mighty in your meetings, look at what is coming from the pulpit. The Word of God is the only source of truth that WILL NOT lead you astray. God watches over His Word to perform it. If what your fellowships are teaching is not in the Word of God, it is a lie regardless of any physical manifestations, signs or wonders…

Apostle Paul warned the Ephesus Brethren for 3 (three) years night and day with tears that men would rise up among them and draw away disciples (Acts 28-31). Draw them away from what? The True unadulterated Word of God spoke through the Apostles. The same Word we have today.

The following is a quote from A.W. Tozer written years ago but speaks volumes of what is happening among fellowships of today -

Is Your Assembly Fed on Excitement?

A Church fed on excitement is no New Testament church at all.  The desire for surface stimulation is a sure mark of the fallen nature, the very thing Christ died to deliver us from.  A curious crowd of baptized worldlings waiting each Sunday for the quasi-religious needle to give them a lift bears no relation whatsoever to a true assembly of Christian believers.  And that its members protest their undying faith in the Bible does not change things any. A.W.Tozer, The Next Chapter After the Last, p.14.

the word

What is the “cry” of the people to the government?…”transparency” (The state in which all relevant information is fully and freely available to the public)…what is amazing is this is the same “cry” of the people to many “Church Fellowships”…it’s a (spirit) that does this…

The same spirit that works in the world is the same spirit that has crept into fellowships…the few believe they can “lord over the masses” with their hidden agendas…yet, God has promised to make all folly manifested, to bring it to surface and put those that do these things to an open shame…the government (those at the top) that lord over the people gets richer through the masses and those that lord over the people in Church fellowships get richer through the masses…

The “love of money” brings out the worst in any organization from the highest form of government or mega church down to the smallest business entity or flock…the only “life styles” that change are those at the top and in control either by law or by those that are blind…lifestyles for the elite flourish all in the name of government and religion…

The bible does not teach this, therefore those the practice these things are not submissive to God and not submissive to His word…both entities have lost sight of their calling, “to be public servants to the masses”…humility is something that has long been forgotten…

Is the prophecy long before told upon us concerning the last days?

But understand this, that in the last days will come perilous times of great stress and trouble, hard to deal with and hard to bear.

For people will be lovers of self and utterly self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate greedy desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be treacherous betrayers, rash, and inflated with self-conceit…

Submit to those in Authority

the word

The following passage of scripture is written by Apostle Paul (moved by the Holy Spirit and inspired)…did the Holy Spirit realize that soon after writing the following (Romans) that Nero would be persecuting Christians?…are we only to submit to governing authority during times of peace, prosperity, success and abundance?…or because things aren’t going the way we feel are correct, we should rebel and take matters into our own hands because in today’s Christian world, we believe this is what the Holy Spirit desires of the modern day Body of Christ?…

Key – (Examples) to the unbelieving world…

Romans 13:1-3
Let every person be loyally subject to the governing (civil) authorities. For there is no authority except from God by His permission, His sanction, and those that exist do so by God’s appointment.

Therefore he who resists and sets himself up against the authorities resists what God has appointed and arranged in divine order. And those who resist will bring down judgment upon themselves receiving the penalty due them.

For civil authorities are not a terror to people of good conduct, but to those of bad behavior. Would you have no dread of him who is in authority? Then do what is right and you will receive his approval and commendation.

Romans 13:4-7
The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience.

Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.

1 Timothy 2:1-4
First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men,

For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that outwardly we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life and inwardly a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way.

For such praying is good and right, and it is pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior,

Who wishes all men to be saved and increasingly to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the [divine] Truth.

1 Peter 2:12-16
Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.

For the Lord’s sake, respect all human authority—whether the king as head of state, or the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right.

It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.

Do I even need to talk about “Slaves” being subject to their “Masters”?…being subject to authority seems to be a big issue in scripture, yet we so easily speak evil of those in governmental positions therefore doing the exact opposite of what scripture tells us to do…

As Christians, we must remember we are “Ambassadors” of another Kingdom, we come in the Name of the Lord and have one truth in which we teach among the Nations, the Word of God…

Last Days Prophecy

the word

God told Apostle Paul this is what we’d be up against in the last days…Religious on the outside but on the inside, complete disarray…this is talking about an “infection” in the Church, infection of pure (selfishness)…this is being fulfilled in our hearing today -

The Prophecy

You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days, (not these last days, but “THE” last days) there will be very difficult times. For people will “love only themselves” and “their money”. They will be “boastful” and “proud”, scoffing at God (God is the Word), disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly.

We refuse to treat others the way we desire to be treated, whether relationships or business deals…we won’t treat others as better than ourselves, we  feel justified within when harm comes to others, callous to the needs of others, only thinking about our own agendas…our motives are to further ourselves when dealing with others…yes, the last “age” of the Church will be likened onto Laodicea-

You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you (DON’T REALIZE) that you are “wretched” and “miserable” and “poor” and “blind” and “naked”.

Agape Love won’t be pursued…we only go to God boldly as a “genie in a bottle” to request what we desire…the words “deny ourselves”, sacrifice, suffering for Him, crucify ourselves are words of tradition and not the words of “New Revelation” by self proclaimed “relevant prophets”…they have new revelation, revelation that denies the Holy Bible that changes us from the “covetous people” we were born into the image of God who is Agape…

These new teachings have infected brethren who now resist scripture and those that speak it…

And the amazing thing is these prophets have the Church completely believing America is in the state it’s in because of someone else…Question, who caused the fall of Jerusalem in 70 A.D…Rome or the religious ones that refused to submit to the Word?

What’s On My Mind

the word

What’s on my mind?…wondering if Heaven will be the same as it is right now among “Christ followers”…wondering if we’ll be at odds because of politics, agendas, factions, and/or disagreements in doctrines…wondering if eternity has already started among believers and whether or not the Word of God is designed to bring believers into a “oneness” by not adding to it or taking away, but just submitting to it and to one another as we follow it…

Wondering when “Agape Love” will be revealed in us…wondering why we allow the world to creep in and cause divisions among us…wondering why we don’t see “one body”…wondering why the world has such a pull on the Christ follower…

Wondering why the Bible has taken a back seat as we quickly draw ourselves to a “oneness” with culture emerging ourselves under a banner called “relevant” that is just another name for “compromise”…we act like the world, think like the world, talk like the world and look like the world…there is nothing different about us anymore…no, the “peculiar” people aspect of Christianity is long gone…the lust for achievement, popularity and success are now “center stage” as we slowly gather into a oneness with the spirit of the world no longer convicted by the Bible that changes us from the worldly people we once were…

No longer do we seek the things that are above but are drawn by the chanting voices of “relevant prophets” not heading warnings the Apostle Paul told that these men would draw away disciples from the Word of God unto themselves…

A terrible deception is upon us, the same deception that was upon the “Church of Laodicea”…increased with goods with the idea they were in need of nothing but are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, naked and don’t even know it…

My Dream

A Few months ago I was sleeping, roughly 2:30am in the morning, (that was the time on the clock when I woke up) I was dreaming – There was a great storm with lightening , wind and thunder. I hovered close to the ground while the lightening strikes were getting closer. Finally, there was a “brilliant light” that kept getting brighter and brighter then all of a sudden someone screamed you’ve been hit! You’ve been hit by lightening! It was so real I woke up. My entire body felt strange and my heart was beating rapidly. I thought I was having a “heart attack”. I tried to relax but my heart was racing so fast I decided to wake my wife for fear started to grip me. All of a sudden I heard within me, “The entrance of His Word gives light; the entrance of His Word gives light”. I said to myself, I’ve read this before! I jumped out of bed ran to the computer and did a search on the internet and found this scripture –

Psalm 119:130 - The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

As soon as I read this scripture, tears were flowing down my face uncontrollably. I continued to read Psalm 119 in front of the computer. It would take pages to explain why this was so awesomely fulfilling to me.

This dream is confirmation. The Word of God is the only answer; the final answer; the absolute; the blue-print; God’s Words in written form; His mind on paper; the only truth; the anchor; the lamp to my feet, the light to my path; for ever settled in heaven; gives me more knowledge than my teachers; more wisdom than the ancients; gives me wisdom, knowledge and understanding; all things that pertain to life and godliness are within; maturity to becoming a man; Loving like Jesus; power over darkness; power over the flesh; power to reconcile with others; power to be content; power over the lures of the world; discernment over deception; discernment over right and wrong; shows perfectly the “Kingdom of God” and the “Kingdom of the World”…

Kingdom of God vs Kingdom of the World

Galatians 1:4 – Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to “rescue us” from this “EVIL WORLD” in which we live.

Ephesians 2:2 – in which you formerly walked according to the “course of this world”, according to the “PRINCE OF THE POWER OF THE AIR”, of the spirit that is “now working in the sons of disobedience”.

1 John 5:19 – We know [positively] that we are of God, and the “WHOLE WORLD” is “UNDER” the “power of the evil one”.Colossians 1:13 – [The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself “OUT OF THE CONTROL” and the “DOMINION OF DARKNESS” and has “TRANSFERRED” us into the “kingdom of the Son of His love”

Romans 12:2 - And “DO NOT” be “conformed to this world”, but be “transformed” by the “renewing of your mind”, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Here is part of the Lord’s Prayer just prior to Him being crucified -

John 17:14-16 -I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do…

After all the truth the Word of God has given concerning life and Godliness while in this world, how can Christian Believers consume themselves with so much wisdom of the world that is totally 100% opposed to the Kingdom we have be translated to?…The Word of God is the “MIND” of God.

Well the answer is quite simple…you have to deny the truth to except a lie…just as Eve did in the garden of Eden…she was given the Word of God and she doubted it and excepted a lie instead…

Satan hasn’t changed his methods since the beginning of time…We have the Word of God. (God has said)…then Satan says, (did God really say)?…All he has to do is get us to doubt what is written…look what happened when Eve doubted…it really is that simple…

Apostle Paul says the “Last Days” will be “PERILOUS”…(2 Timothy 3)…deception in and among the called out believers will be great…Jesus said so close as to deceive the very elected if possible (Matthew 24:24)…

The world is tugging and pulling on believers like never before yet the Word of God speaks plainly…

1 John 2:16 -
For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself]…

Remember: The God of this world is not Jesus Christ, the God of this world is the “prince of darkness”, and he is a deceiver…

2 Corinthians 4:4 – In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Meeting The Needs Of The Saints

I’m so amazed when I’m approached by Church leadership concerning a vehicle for ministry needs. Since being in the auto business, I’ve been approached numerous times asking if I can help out with a need by donating a car or selling one extremely cheap and I have done so in many cases. What I am amazed at is the response from Church leadership; “You are so blessed for doing this” or “Your generosity is seldom matched” or something of that nature. I don’t see anything out of the ordinary, so it concerns me when a leader would think this type of giving is something special, but what is most alarming is why does it get to my level?…why isn’t the fellowship taking care of these needs in their flock?…not complaining at all!…I just don’t understand this. The Bible tells us and shows us how Christians sold possessions to take care of one another, everyone had all things in common…when someone in the flock has a need, it should be automatic for the flock to pitch in and fulfill that need, after all, are we not family, members of one another?…look at the following example from the “Early Church Fathers” on how an offering was distributed to meet the needs of the people –

Justin Martyr – First Apology Chapter LXVII.—Weekly worship of the Christians -

And we afterwards continually remind each other of these things. And the wealthy among us help the needy; and we always keep together; and for all things wherewith we are supplied, we bless the Maker of all through His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Ghost. And on the day called Sunday, all who live in cities or in the country gather together to one place, and the memoirs of the apostles or the writings of the prophets are read, as long as time permits; then, when the reader has ceased, the president verbally instructs, and exhorts to the imitation of these good things. Then we all rise together and pray, and, as we before said, when our prayer is ended, bread and wine and water are brought, and the president in like manner offers prayers and thanksgivings, according to his ability, and the people assent, saying Amen; and there is a distribution to each, and a participation of that over which thanks have been given, and to those who are absent a portion is sent by the deacons. And they who are well to do, and willing, give what each thinks fit; and what is collected is deposited with the president, who succors ( help; relief; aid; assistance) the orphans and widows and those who, through sickness or any other cause, are in want, and those who are in bonds and the strangers sojourning among us, and in a word takes care of all who are in need…

The collection was for the needs of the Body of Christ (1 Cor 16:1), I’m not sure when this changed.

You see Brothers and Sisters?…aren’t we to be totally different from the world in our giving?…Isn’t this our reasonable service?…there should never be a needy person in the Body of Christ…2 Corinthians Chapters 8 & 9 show that giving is all about the “Grace” of God that has been bestowed on all who believe, these chapters are not about what we can get from God, they are all about giving and sacrificially giving at that because of God’s grace…it’s God working in us doing His good pleasure…He get’s the Glory!

Giving to meet needs in our fellowship should be automatic and never considered above and beyond, this is our reasonable service…
